Where to place a Guan Gong statue
Face the statue toward the main door so the deity “guards” the entrance and intercepts negative energy. Place it at chest height or higher — never on the floor. In a shop or office, the wealth-facing Guan Gong (holding a golden ingot or with the blade lowered) is preferred; the protective Guan Gong (blade raised) suits entrances and security.
Which material should you choose?
Bronze and brass suit temple and outdoor settings for durability; camphor wood is traditional for altars; resin and Dehua porcelain work for desk and home shrines. For sizing, altar pieces run 20–80cm, while temple commissions reach several metres.
